// DaVinci Resolve → Frame.io

The round trip between Resolve and Frame.io. Without leaving Resolve.

Pull Frame.io collaborator comments onto your timeline as markers, make your edits, and publish a new version right back to Frame.io. All from one panel docked inside DaVinci Resolve.

Requires DaVinci Resolve Studio · macOS now, Windows in progress
You can now connect a Resolve timeline to a Frame.io video.
DaVinci Resolve Relay Frame.io One workflow. Notes and versions stay in sync.
01 · The problem

Resolve and Frame.io no longer communicate.

Your Frame.io notes live in a browser, and your cut lives in Resolve. You copy timecodes by hand, one at a time. CineWaltz Relay closes that loop and lets the two programs communicate, so your notes move automatically, from Frame.io to Resolve and back again.

Without CineWaltz Relay

Two windows, all day

Read a comment in Frame.io, scrub to the timecode in Resolve, drop a marker, and hope you didn't miss anything. Finish, re-upload, and start the copying over again.

With CineWaltz Relay

One panel, in sync, that feels just like a native Resolve panel

Each user gets a color, and when a new comment is made in Frame.io it shows up in the timeline's inbox in Resolve. Complete the work, publish back to Frame.io, and the timeline stays connected for the next round. Two programs merged into one interface.

02 · What it does

The whole review loop, inside Resolve.

Three moves that used to mean two apps and a lot of copying.

01 · Sync

Sync the notes to your Resolve timeline.

Connect a Resolve timeline to a Frame.io video and every review comment drops onto the timeline, as a marker, at the exact frame it belongs to.

  • Frame.io comments become markers at the right timecode
  • Each collaborator gets their own color
  • Repeating keywords are tagged by color, so notes like #audio stand out
Frame.io shown only to prove the sync
02 · Work

Finish the edits without leaving Resolve.

Switch notes on and off by commenter, filter to a single keyword, and check them off as you go. Complete a note in the panel and its status updates back on Frame.io, so the whole team can see that it's done.

  • Toggle notes on and off for each collaborator
  • Advanced filtering lets you show only certain keywords
  • Mark complete, and the status syncs to Frame.io

You never open Frame.io. The Frame.io view on the right is there only to prove the status synced. You stay in Resolve the whole time.

03 · Publish & deliver

Publish your completed video directly to Frame.io, and your timeline markers post as comments.

When you are ready, hit Publish. Relay renders and uploads the new version and posts your markers as comments on it, credited to the right person even when one account posts on the team's behalf. Then the timeline stays connected and watches for the next round of notes.

  • Render and upload the new version in one move
  • Timeline markers post as Frame.io comments at the correct timestamp
  • A shareable link with the file name, ready to paste into Slack or email
04 · Watch it in action

The full round trip in under a minute.

Connect a video, color the notes, pull them onto the timeline, publish back, and deliver.

You can now connect a Resolve timeline to a Frame.io video.
